Robert Herrmann

AGRICULTURAL consultant Robert Herrmann has been appointed as executive director of the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia.

The NCWSBA said Mr Herrmann will take over from current executive director Paul Deane on 1 May.

The council said Mr Herrmann brings a lifetime of experience to the position, having started his wool industry career on the family wool property at Hamilton. His wool industry experience started in the shearing shed, firstly as a shearer, and then as a wool classer, before taking up the role of district wool manager at Hamilton for Elders Ltd.

Mr Herrmann is probably best known as the founder and managing director of AgConcepts/Mecardo, one of Australia’s leading multi-commodity and agricultural markets analysts.

He is currently employed on a part-time basis by Nutrien Agri-Solutions as an agency product and market specialist and has been a board member of Sheep Producers Australia since November 2020.

NCWSBA president Rowan Woods said Robert brings with him a wealth of relevant experience, and a sound understanding of industry issues.

“Through Ag Concepts, he has been instrumental in offering risk management products to the wool industry, using his knowledge of wool production to provide advice to producers in hedge strategy and process.”

Mr Herrmann said he is looking forward to advocating for and representing the members of the NCWSBA.

“It is a privilege to be offered the role of executive director of the NCWSBA; this is an organisation whose members provide a valuable service to the Australian wool industry.”
